Something in the Soil.
In development; rewrite.
When Ellis’s family inherits a remote farm in a remote part of North Carolina, they expect a fresh start. But the soil holds secrets. Beneath the fields lies the Nuno sa Punso—an ancient spirit from Filipino folklore, buried and bitter. It begins to terrorize the family with horrific dreams, plagues of insects, and mind-controlling mushrooms.
When his young brother is abducted, Ellis must descend into the underworld to find a way to confront the Nuno and bring his brother home. But Ellis is no hero. His rage gets him into trouble at school, and his family carries the scars of inherited trauma and alcoholism.
Something in the Soil is a horror-folklore coming-of-age story about emotional inheritance, mythic confrontation, and the painful process of learning to protect without becoming what you fear. It asks:
What do we have to unearth in order to grow, and how deep is it buried?
Troll
Status; concept stage
He was never welcome. A wiseman and scholar rejected by an ignorant society. He was insulted, persecuted, and pushed to the edges of every community he tried to enter. Eventually, he stopped trying. He built a shelter in the wilderness, far from the voices that called him insane. But the voices never stopped.
The Troll is a psychological horror story about what happens when society refuses to see the humanity in its outsiders. It asks what we create when we isolate the vulnerable, and how fear can turn difference into danger.
When the troll is finally pushed too far, the question is no longer what he is—but what we made him.
This story explores radicalization, loneliness, and the thin line between survival and surrender. It’s not a personal narrative—it’s a mirror held up to society, asking:
What do we bury when we call someone a monster? And what grows in the dark when no one is looking?
